My god, it hasn't even been a full week here, and I'm already finding flaws about the UW. I mean, the people are nice enough. I've found a bunch of awesome people who share my own interests, professors do try to help me, and I've been given a really sweet roommate, but the RA's of the dorm are completely useless.

While I was installing my ipod earlier, I had a bunch of problems, the computer couldn't read my ipod, it was having trouble with itunes and it was insane. So finally after an hour, I just gave up, and went to turn off my laptop. My laptop would not turn off no matter what I did, I pressed the restart button on the start menu, I've hit ctl alt delete, I've pressed the power button several times, it just would not work! So finally, I held down on the power button long enough to get a black screen with a mouse. I couldn't get out of that screen.

I was getting desperate, so I grabbed my laptop, my phone, my keys, and ran out, hoping that the front desk or an RA could help me. Well, I've asked around the landing first to see if any guys could help me, they were too focused on a game. I went down to the lobby to see if the front desk could help me, there was no one there. I finally called the RA to see if she could possibly help, she was in a meeting but came out to talk. I asked her if there were any tech support people around.

Her response, "Well, Haggett is a dorm not an office, so there aren't any tech support offices around here. I could help you out if you lost your key, got lost, or locked yourself out of your room, but I really can't help you. The nearest tech support out there is by the bookstore (and it's really far away, I have to hike through the whole campus in the dark and into the streets where someone was recently mugged) or you can go online on the UW website and they can help you. I have to go to my meeting!"

My thought response, "Well, duh. Of course Haggett is a dorm, that's why people *live* here. And I know you're not technical, you look like you don't even know how to work a can opener. Now, if I could just easily go online, I wouldn't be having any problems would I? I just wanted to know if you knew of a place I could go to in those meetings of yours that can help me. Apparently they don't teach you much in those meetings besides throwing parties." I don't know, while she hurried away to her meeting, I mumbled "RA's are the most useless things on the world" I think she heard me, oh well.

So, I ran out to the dorm next to us hoping that there was someone that knew what they were doing. I asked two guys, didn't have a clue. I asked the cashier/worker at an internet cafe, didn't have a clue and went off to make a freaking mocha for another idiot. Asked two Asian dudes drinking coffee (by this time I was in near tears because I was so paranoid that I broke my laptop) one fixed it by pressing down on the power button for a long time.

I tried that earlier, it didn't work. It only worked for him. I hate my laptop sometimes. And he had the nerve to say 9after I thanked him profusely) "Well, I kinda know about this computer because I have the 9000 version of it while you only have the 6000"
