I'm listening to Koda Kumi, god forbid.
I find the fact that I'm listening to Koda Kumi rather interesting. I usually don't like her stuff because it's uninteresting/repetitive. However, I do like her FFX2 songs (Japanese please!) and other songs (XXX was cool, and I do honestly like Cherry Girl) and I do think she works hard. It just that I don't like her overall image and the style of her music. Oh well.

Anyways, the reason why I'm updating today is that I am really questioning on my ability to write. Today has been the second time where someone has blatantly told me that I have uninteresting/dull writing.

I mean the first time it wasn't that big of a deal, my dad read one of my scholarship essays and said it was a bit dry and uncreative. I'm really scientifically analytical, so that's how I write, straightforwardly. The second time, a bunch of people from the other AP literature class critiqued my paper and left messages that my writing was 'boring' and 'unstylized' and 'was interesting as a science paper'. Heck, even Sweethikari-chan has even said that my writing isn't the most eloquent in the world and often goes pseudo-psycho on my essays.

But the thing is, I really don't like writing 'pretty'. I prefer straightforward writing that makes sense without several minutes of analyzing what one word symbolizes. I can be eloquent, yes, but I guess it's hidden behind my 'clinical' style

Admittedly I like a few of her songs as well, although her reputation and image make me want to bash her head in. :/

Flowery language can sometimes have its purposes but for the most part gets in the way of clear communication. And in my opinion, getting your point across is the key to good writing. Try not to get too down about what others are saying. Maybe they just don't understand the good in clear writing.
