Today I was talking with my friend M-kun. I mentioned the new Final Fantasy Advent Children movie. Well, he's a bigger fan then I am, and then somehow I mentioned Gackt. Bad Move.

For one thing he *HATES* Gackt, with a passion. I'm not sure why. He really couldn't tell me either. Maybe it's to get back at me for not liking Zhang Ziyi, because he's always raving about how she's such a great actress. But he's only listened to parts of two of his songs (Tsuki no Uta and Fragrance with a bunch of people in the background talking)and hated them. ::is sad::

But the thing that really irked me off was that I mentioned Gackt's age (he's around 33 right?) well, he says that he, and probably other singers that age and up, are way too old. That saddened me because of the superficiality of it. Gackt may be older then the Idol Singers, but he still can sing. Heck, Gackt doesn't look that old. The media annoys me so much by always advertising for really young 'talent' when the only talent that those people really have is their looks. I mean, not everything is about looks, although it does help to draw in fangirls lol, "singers" are actually supposed to be able to sing.
sigh...

That's one of the downsides of the pop industry. Once you hit 25 you're practically ancient. In the classical side of the music biz (e.g. opera, art songs, and musicals, stuff like that, where you have to train your voice), your voice really only starts maturing in your 20s, and most people don't even become successful, if not famous, until they're at least 30. People like Charlotte Church are exceptions. (and I don't even like her voice all that much anyway)

Have you seen the video clip of Gackt with Kago Ai from Morning Musume on some talk show where they simulated a "date"? The age difference conversation was much the entertaining.
